Re: [Avid-L2] Avid 6 can't start when network is connected?

Hi,

I found that a lot of my students had the hanging at AMA-settings problem with the school's new iMACs. Turns out if you let the machines sit for a few minutes, the problem seems to resolve itself and the initializing finishes. Really annoying, and it can really take several minutes.

Best Wishes,

Hey Tina,

I experienced the exact same thing last week. Our internet service provider was having issues, so we had to disconnect from their Modem. And none of our systems would start, like you, freezing at initializing AMA-Settings. Pulled the ethernet cable and everything started just fine.

Don't get why this would cause an issue. DHCP is handled on a server located in the office. The only thing that I can possibly think of is it might have something to do with DNS, but not sure way that would have anything to do with AMA.

Like I said, I pulled the cable to the editing client, and everything was fine. After the ISP re-established service, Plugged everything back in, and everything was back to normal.

Very strange

Avid freezes when it is trying to initialize AMA-settings. There are no problems when the computer isn't connected to the internet.
