I have heard several times both directly and indirectly from Apple folks that some of their pro users, like BBC, have indicated interest in using iMovie for simple stuff and by less-trained personnel, like reporters and producers. I believe even on the pro side, they see a direct pathway from iMovie to FCP X. Do basic capture, logging, selects on iMovie and then send to FCP X for polishing. That seems to be their model and FCP 7/FCS and those users are collateral damage.
