Re: [Avid-L2] Editing on your feet

 

The place I've been working the last few months has adjustable desks in
the edit room, so I've been experimenting with this.

I like spending a chunk of the day standing. Engaging the body more
probably facilitates a rhythmic connection with the material. I find I
move around a lot more to different positions in relation to the screen,
which I think helps in keeping a fresh perspective.

I do find after 5 or 6 hours I get a bit footsore, so I prefer to split
the day between seated and standing positions. It's a bit of a
curiousity to clients and co-workers, but nobody has had a problem with it.

Something to consider if you're working with lcd monitors -- a seated
client may be off the vertical axis enough to have a markedly different
impression of the look of the footage than you do.
