The price doesn't really matter. Apple is the 3rd largest corporation in the world. They're bigger than Microsoft and nearly as big as Exxon. They have more than $50 billion in CASH sitting in the bank, waiting to be spent. That cash just sitting there with nothing to do is nearly 60 times the ENTIRE market capitalization of tiny Avid. Apple product introductions are routinely featured on the front page of the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.

So this would be a notably understated way for them to introduce a new version of a product which is among the most important in our industry.
