Many of us have over the years copied analog movies to DV, yet never edited these decade old tapes. And, I've never edit DV with MC.
If I capture via FireWire into MC 5, will the files be .mov or .mxf or something else?
I ask because there is an application that will input QT files and use content analysis to create a folder of reference clips. I'm not sure this app will work with .mxf.
Once these reference clips are created -- I want to import these clips into iMovie where I can skim clips. (Skimming is the best thing about iM!) After MOST clips are tagged bad, I will deleted them. The rest, I want to bring back into MC.
If the Avid DV codec for MC creates an .mxf file then I may need to import using iMovie. I suspect that would mean eventually, i will need to import the .dv files into MC which means a transcoding.
One last question. When MC captures DV, does the file contain 0-110% YUV or are the data clipped to 100% and made RGB. I assume the former,.
