[Avid-L2] Re: Hijack, was, How to scan a drive

1) Changes in the report probably shouldn't affect the media. We have a lot of crossover of media from one clip to another, so a clip may need Project01 and Project02 assigned to it, if possible. That way we could search for all Project01 and see a clip that's also used in Project02, Project08, and Project77, for example.

2) Awesome.

3) Great.

4) Understandable. If I ever get our shop to convert to Avid I'll just buy Wes' MediaCopy. I think every Avid shop should have it anyhow.

5) Good to hear. I hate when software isn't cross platform.

6) Tracks I could definitely do without, but I'd love to see the framerate and compression codec used. I'm finding lots of uncompressed material on our shared storage that originated as DV25. Being able to search a report for specific compressions would be a huge timesaver in locating these files for recompression, as well as identifying web compressions, DVD rips, etc...

Good to hear this is mostly doable. Any estimate of cost for software that does all this?

Thanks,

M
