I would have them convert their material first to a ProRes format using encoding
software, MPEG StreamClip, Compressor etc..then they will be able to work with
it without rendering. I'm not sure if you'll be able to batch import the
material into symphony.

Client shot 7D at 1080p 23.98. They are offlining on FCP at DV 29.97. Online
Conform will be on Avid Symphony at 1080i 59.94. The 7D h.264 files need to be
converted to a format that the client can edit with without rendering every
time. Then we would like to be able to batch import what was used into the
final 1080i 59.94 Avid Symphony project. What's the most efficient workflow for
this? Again, trying to not have to render on the offline side.
