I should have probably mentioned that this is for my home studio. To be honest, I have no interest in investing heavily in studio equipment anymore, especially when the VTR is about to go extinct. I'm trying to find the middle path here...

The same shop mentioned above, used CAV out of their DVCAM deck into AJA Io or AJA Kona instead of direct FW400. The video looked better, we had more codec choices and the workflow matched all the other formats. Just patch whatever you needed and you are good to go. Plus, I've seen too many decks where the FW interface was burnt out and no longer functional.
