Hello,
excuse the long email.....A quick introduction first......
I'm Adam Peat, head of engineering at The Farm in london, although i have lurked
around this list (and actually it's predecessor..) for many
years, I don't think I have ever posted requesting help before.
We have recently taken delivery of an Isis 5000 and after some good results with
initial testing, it's now in and running in one of our facilities.
Since then however we have been experiencing some errors/issues that i wanted to
see if anyone else is having either across Isis5000/7000 and/or Media Composer
5. We are running the Isis on our own HP procurve switches, but we have also
tested with supported Force 10 switches and had the same issues.
We are running 2 'engines' 1 system director with additional storage manager and
these are linked back to the switch via 10Gb-E. The storage group is spread
across the 2 arrays. We have approx 15 editing client connected
These are the 2 most common errors we get on the client side:
Exception: DesktopSFConsumer::EarlyPreSync error PreLoading spring buffer
This Is then sometimes followed by:
End of file reached on '**media file path**'.
These are on playback, but rather than the file actually being corrupt it can be
played back in some systems but not others at this time. After a period of time
this error will go from the system it's occurring on and the material can then
be played back again.
Whilst the system has the error it can be persistent even during a full system
reboot and even changing the Isis switch port, It also persists after deleting
MCState, Site_Attributes, Site_Settings, Local Shared project settings and
clearing the cache's in the 'Advanced' tab on the Isis client manager.
This is running isis 5000 v3.1, mediacomposer 5.03.7r (with the multicam4split
update applied) windows vista64, with SP2.(we have now also tried 5.03.8 with
same issues)
At first hardware didn't seem to be that relevant as it occurs across, xw8400's,
xw8600's, and z400's, running both MojoSDI and Adrenaline I/O, but we think we
now see a pattern emerging that the 8400's are less susceptible (but not immune)
to the probs.
All OS and NIC optimization are done & checked.
We are working with JFIF 15:1s media that is transcoded from XDcam proxies, and
are doing a fair bit of multicam (although the error occurs in normal playback
and in multicam playback)
Also another error we get consistently across these suites is:
Assertion Failed: !m_playback.IsLocked()
File:…\..\..\MediaComposer\MonWindow\BlipAudio.c, Line: 294
This also happens just on playback, but can be dismissed by just clicking on OK
and acknowledging the error..
We are looking at the problems with our reseller to try and replicate problems
and get Avid to look at them but i'd just like to find out if anyone is seeing
similar problems, or doing similar work with these systems without getting these
problems.
Any feedback gratefully recieved....
Thanks Adam.
