So it would seem, but the fallacy is assuming the crew won't screw up. In this case they set it at the start of the shoot under the belief that the camera would automatically increment the user numbers. It didn't and no further updates were done. So you have all clips with the same UserClipName, Scene No. and Take No.
I'm merely suggesting that there are plenty of instances where you might want both the ClipName as well as the UserClipName to show up in the Bin, which doesn't seem to be the case. If so, these should be separate columns, in addition to the Avid Name. After all, it's there in the XML. That would be a better cross-reference of the metadata, from what I can tell. Possibly this has been changed in MC5.
I was able to clean out the UserClipName with the Panasonic app and then the AMA Bin read the ClipName correctly.
File-based is better, Right? Someone please assure me that it is!
