Can't really find any pictures (these surfaces date from the mid-nineties).
There has been a Steenbeck controller, which was pretty much the same
controller as was used on Steenbeck flatbed editing tables, and there was
the MUI, a different controller, with a larger shuttle and programmable
keys. I used to own the latter, bought one on Ebay. Worked with ADB Macs
only, so when I bought my Meridien system, the MUI quickly needed to retire.
The greatest thing about using one was that, when you pressed your thumb
slightly to the shuttle, it would run the footage at around 150%, a great
speed that would allow you to still hear what interviewees were saying.
My very first encounter with an NLE was Lightworks, and I always missed that
type of control on Avids (as much I loved other things about that).
