[Avid-L2] Re: Media Composer 5 announced

Not so sure the sample based is such a problem. In my experience taking AAFs with embedded back into Avid SNDX on a mac ver 3.5.4 as long as you check avid compatibility in the export box it will add a sample accurate edit to each track to fill the samples to the next nearest frame. One of the mixers I worked with turned on a snap to grid thingy that made his tracks always end at an even frame and then no sample accurate edits were necessary. In my case I was dealing with mixdown stems so it wasn't like every audio clip in the project was coming back. I don't know how exporting the actual clip elements timeline would be effected by the avid compatibility check box in export dialogue but I'm guessing it would add the same sample accurate edits to clips that weren't on even frame boundries. Perhaps someone who is more ProTools aware can elaborate.
