That is what I recommend too. I love the way it will recurse through the
folders, naming the bins the same as the folders.
As for the perfect cloning question; this may be what was being referred

If you were to perform a checksum on the P2 folder before copying and
after then you could be sure it had made the trip with all its bytes
unflipped.

Not sure what this means either. I work with a client whose Panasonic
product (P2 Gear or P2 Store, I believe) does this and it results in a
separate volume for each card on a hard drive. So 12 cards means 12
partitions on a single drive from the field - ALL mounted on your
desktop (on a Mac).
When I first started playing with AMA, I had a lot of files go offline.
Avid told me that AMA had trouble tracking this many different AMA
volumes. Hence, their recommended approach was to copy the contents to a
single drive so all the cards ended up on one mounted drive.
