Still pre-AMA here, but I think I understand what you want to get to
and am thinking that you're into that grey area that lies between
possibility and practicality. Note that one solution involves an EDL,
Sony Clip Browser and an intern jacked-up on goofballs and trucker
speed so "YMMV" as the kids like to say.
But in quick "napkin code" it certainly seems possible - so the Big Q
becomes if it's enough of an issue / need that it gets made a
reality. And again, that's if it's not already possible within the
existing app. I'm still on MCSoft 3.1.x so I don't know. I'd assume
not if you're posing the question.
Extremely basically, it would:
1. Dupe/decompose sequence with handles (length minimum: 1-GOP).
2. Analyze original media and build "GOP-legal" consolidate list
based on its GOP structure.
3. Consolidate new clips, adding new meta and writing to proper BAPV
directory structure.
4. Re-link all that new stuff to Decomposed sequence.
5. ???? Rendered Pre-computes ????
6. PROFIT !!!!!!
But that's just a guess. Also.
