[Avid-L2] Re: DNxHD QuckTime FCP Import Question

But according to the article the Avid export check box for 601/709 or RGB is concerning the source materials levels not the exported QT levels. According to the article checking rgb on Avid export tells the export to take the 0-255 levels and bring them into 16-235 space so the resulting QT has 601/709 level. Again according to the article it does not take 16-235 levels and stretch them to 0-255. If the article and my understanding of it are correct that check box has nothing to do with turning 709 levels to RGB but rather taking source RGB down to 709 levels. Is anything really happening to the "essence" of the QT or is it setting metadata flags on how to interpret the footage? Dennis' results sure suggest that those check boxes are bringing the Avid 16-235 timeline and raising the levels to 0-255 but that is not how the article reads.
