[Avid-L2] Re: Canon 7D observations

I'm no expert, but I've been cutting 5D footage, off and on, for the past couple of months. In some cases, I have imported the QuickTime wrapped h.264 as uncompressed into MC. I'd have to say that it's almost impossible to tell the difference between uncompressed and DNxHD 145.

I don't know about the 7D -- but I would doubt the encoder part of the 5D was ever designed to be "flashed" with an alternate codec -- or that the data bus was designed for anything but that existing bitstream.

I don't know much about the HDMI out, as I'm not the shooter, just thought the product was interesting.
