[Avid-L2] OT: Adobe Premier for Newsrooms

Was talking with a friend who is a Chief News Photographer at a station
that will remain un-named. He told me that their ownership group is
currently planning to go with a new Adobe Premier based news editing
solution, and network and server system. Couldn't give me many more
details than that, except to also comment that "Preditors" are becoming
the norm even in larger markets. He expects that to accellerate as the
broadcast stations switch to smaller and smaller (read that as
"cheaper") cameras.

They are currently still tape-to-tape, but ingest into a server system
for playback to air, and have one or two Newscutter systems. They're
even planning to shut down their creative services department and get
rid of their Media Composer.

He also noted that they even have competition from the local newspaper
now, as they shoot and post video reports about their top news stories.
Not very well done, but they do it.
