There are many other paths to get mxf to MC, although MetaFuze is the
fastest, but since my class is OS X only, not so useful at all :).
Plus there is, in Avid's official RED worfklow step-by-step
documentation (April 2009), the requirement that a show that wants to
finish on DS in native REDcode but edit offline mxf in Media Composer,
must start the project on MetaFuze.
If that's not the case, then Avid should change the documentation or
post a correction.
If you don't plan on a DS finish, there are lots of viable workflows.

As I understand it, you seem to be contradicting Avid's documentation??
