project requirements (namely a client present so I need the big desk and
track lighting). We still use this system on a regular basis, but
normally for output that is going to end up on the web or DVD. This
project needs to be output to DVCam, but I don't seem to have firewire
output, although input works fine. This has worked in the past, but we
haven't output to tape on this particular machine in some time.
Frankenbox on Windows XP SP 3
Avid Express 5.8 sees the DSR11 and can capture from it, but not play
back through it.
Avid Express 5.8 sees the old Laird DV Converter card, but will not feed
video through it. (On an internal firewire port)
PC will see Firewire drives, so I'm assuming the card is good.
I don't trust the Laird, which is extremely old, and never was very
reliable. I trust the DSR11, but something could be toasted. I'm
confused though since playback/capture works.
My next trouble shooting step is to drag a camcorder out and see if I
can output through that, and to hook the DSR11 up to my MacBookPro to
see if it works bi-directionally there.
Anyone have any other suggestions to try before I consolidate to an
external drive, and spend a day cleaning out space on my MacBook Pro so
I can move everything over to that?
