I've owned Media Composers since 1993 & have always paid for (at least some) Avid Support contracts, though I don't think I've had any reason to call them in the last couple of years. But today ScriptSync turned up missing on an MC 7.0 system so I called Support. After about 5 mins. waiting on the phone, a tech picked up, he remoted in, & with my authorization codes he re-blessed my system & ScriptSync came back.
Quick & easy; just what I pay for.
The tech spoke excellent English but with just a trace of an accent, so I asked him where he was - turns out he was in the Philippines; it was 1am there while it was noon in Boston; he says he's an editor but he works full-time for Avid; he's responsible solely for MC licensing problems.
In an ideal world there would still be Avid Support jobs for people here in Massachusetts as in the old days, but yeah, I understand that salaries are cheaper in Asia, so I guess I can't complain...
