Yes. If you have MC and FCP it makes sense to use the FCP license for the
upgrade! That way you get it all.

[Avid-L2] Re: News: Avid Offers Unprecedented Limited-Time Symphony 6 Crossgrade Promotion

I don't understand the logic here:

"Now, we can grab new Symphony licenses for the promo department,
alleviating any CC bottleneck and move the MC licenses to the FCP seats on
Konas."

If you upgrade the mc licenses to symphony then you don't have the media composers any more. Oh wait just by having the 4 FCP licenses you can get symphony upgrades and leave the original mc software licenses alone. That sounds right if I understand the offer. So I might be better off using my FCP ownership for the upgrade and keep my existing MC system as is.

[Avid-L2] Re: NAB 2012 In this corner...

Well, watch the pre NAB editors' lounge and see all the editors working on major productions with Adobe Premiere that showed up to be on the panel after being invited. But you never know. I hope Frank has learned to "Duck" when the Adobe round house is coming his way. Oh wait Adobe has the, uh Duck on their side and Avid lost Mr. Weight Lifter but maybe he'll come back as a tag team partner in the NLE Cage Match.

Wow that was a nice quick turn around. Fun to watch after being stuck at work and missing the event. Now I'm afraid I'll be stuck at work and miss NAB. Oh well I guess I'll just have to rely on "The Cloud." Thanks for everyone's hard work to get the video up so quickly.

Also be careful with mixed frame rates as automatic duck will only convert sequence frame rate.

Re: [Avid-L2] Consult.

Get him to download Avid. You get a 30 day fully functions trial period
for free. He should be able to figure it out well enough to rough cut in
that time. If he can't, he can buy Symphony for $999 with his FCP
license. Forget the headache of trying to work across the globe with two
different programs.
