[Avid-L2] Relinking requiring relinking to highlighted items in open bins?

Have a multicam Amira shoot that the DIT preprocessed the camera ProResHQ 422 original media into DNX 36 with a LUT and also un Lutted DNX 220X.  I was able to look at the Tape Name info and mimic the use of file name for clip name and Reel Number/Tape Name in Resolve to reprocess the originals to apply a LUT to the DNX 220X media.  I'm on Avid 5.5.5 so can't apply the LUT in Avid and it just works better for me to pre Lut.  Originally I processed the media at DNX 220 and the sequences linked right up to my Resolved media without even a need to Relink.  I then went back to reprocess as DNX 220X but I missed a setting so the .mxf files didn't have the clip name but some numbers.  With this batch of media that still had the correct Tape Names I had to relink manually.  Using the standard tape and time code didn't work, WTF.  So I highlighted the clips in a bin and choose the relink to highlighted clips in open bins.  That worked.  I then reprocessed the media in Resolve using the correct setting I had used the first time.  This media didn't relink right away and again I had to use the relink to highlighted clips in open bins.

I"m curious why the first time it just linked and then after my faux pas processing and subsequently after reprocessing the media a 3rd time it now always requires the relink to highlighted clips in open bins when the tape names and time code all match.  I've found this happens a lot when I'm dealing with ama linked and transcoded clips but why when the tape name and time code match do I have to resort to it.  I have checked all the matching case and don't require media from this project that I usually do.  Anybody know what's changing under the hood after my initial success without need a relink at all?  I'm not stuck but curious what part of my relinking through things a little sideways.
