Re: [Avid-L2] WMV recommendations

I second Microsoft's FREE Expression Encoder. Encodes fast (even on an older PC) and the files look great.

I do these by running a Windows version of  Squeeze under Parallels Desktop (or similar.) A cheap solution is to get Microsoft Expression Encoder (free) and run in a virtual machine of some sort.

I often have to encode WMV files for corporate clients.  I edit on a Mac so when I use Sorensen Squeeze to encode from a ProRes or DNxHD file it takes a long time (10 hrs for a 96 minute program!)  and, the audio is out of sync when the WMV is played on the Mac.  I have to check the WMV on a Windows computer to verify sync is good.

Any recommendations for encoding WMVs when you are Avid Mac-based?  Other software? Or good experiences (quality, speed, cost) with any online encoding services?

Thanks in advance
