Yes, short slates, and a minimum of black. I've seen too much time lost to ingesting black.

Can be switched to 'user' LTC or VITC - I think after the capture now too.

But mostly ops will just restripe a whole rip from HDCam to match a tape log (so a bit of burn in on the slates wouldn't hurt)
