" To continue my upgrade adventure, there are now 6 valid MC system ID's are all "on hold" and my current working MC6.0 dongle can't be validated at all cuz some clown in finland just used MY system ID to upgrade HIS system. Now I have to present documentation to Avid that the thing belongs to me- even though I have the only physical dongle, Avid sent it directly to me and it's been registered and running for the last 3 years.."
They are ON Hold because the original licenses have NEVER been in your Master Account. You did not buy the original license from the store... you might have bought upgrades but not the original System ID.
As I said to someone yesterday.... so you bought from Videoguys.com.... who in turn buys palettes of product from us so how do we know which box or card you got from them. We don't. So with this 8.3 version and support/upgrade plan process, you are able to tie the original system ID to the plan and hence that system ID is NOW in your Master Account.
CS has to verify the license, check if it is registered ( you would NOT believe how many people don't do that ) and then make sure it is legally yours. A lot of second hand sales, ebay transitions etc.... occur so we need to ensure that the license is listed properly and to the correct person.
Hope your well.... happy holidays to you and have a safe and happy new year - 8 hours after me :)
