BTW - speaking of that new DreamColor Z27x, I'm the guy that designed it. So feel free to fire questions my way. (Some of the old timers around here may remember me from the many years I was fighting the good fight at Avid.)

I'm pretty darned happy with my baby and I think you all will be too.

Here's is my timeworn answer. We are not correcting a show to look good on Granny's green TV in Wyoming. We are correcting so that our show looks consistently green on her TV with the other shows she watches. The point is we need a common reference point so that we are all working from the same base points. Enter reference monitoring.

We never have been able to, and will probably never be able to, regulate the viewing experience in each home. Heck, THX couldn't even get theaters all perfectly aligned. ACES has potential, but that is a long way off from being in the consumer universe.
