Alright, Robert, you're getting to the heart of the matter. Thanks!
I am suggesting that they use DNxHD45 as the standard Media Creation setting for all projects, but then it was pointed out that it's easier for the news department to take their P2 media to AVCHD inside of Avid instead of DNxHD. Since the promotion department's ISIS needs to use that news media on a regular basis, they are suggesting that we always use AVCHD so that we don't have both codecs on the same workspaces. I would prefer to use DNxHD on non-news promos, but if that's going to be a problem, then we'll just have to stick with AVCHD, because I don't think I can convince the news department to use DNxHD of any flavor.
Would it be OK to use the DNxHD on one workspace and AVCHD on another? The trick of course is that it's inevitable in the heat of the moment that the wrong codec would end up on the wrong workspace. I don't remember the specifics of the ISIS...
