Re: [Avid-L2] AMA linking and graphic levels

Having looked at this a bit more, you are correct, it appears that Avid converts a QuickTime rendered out with a native (DNxHD) codec from 0-255 to 16-235 on linking. It does not do this with still graphics or QuickTime rendered out with (say) Animation as the codec (but as you say, they can be modified after linking).

So my question to Avid is: If the Import settings assume by default that all graphics etc are 0-255 unless the editor switches to 601/709, why is the same not the case for AMA? I have to teach this stuff and the fewer inconsistencies there are, the happier I am!
