[Avid-L2] Re: Failure to Launch - SOLVED

Okay, for those curious about this, I solved the problem, but it wasn't what I'd expected. First off, let me just lay out that my previous system OS 10.5.8, running MC 3.5.5, AJA hardware card (run FCP 7 off same system, LOTS of other programs and you might expect: never any problem.

Got a new drive, clean install of the OS 10.6.6 (finally - for those wondering, found some copies of Snow Leopard at MacMall in Santa Monica - 10.6.3 - which I upgraded by download to 10.6.6) installed MC 5.5.2 - and that's it. Still wouldn't open as of last night around 8:30pm.

Marianna on the Forums, scattershot it and recommended pulling hardware out of the machine: so I pulled the AJA card - nothing, MC still wouldn't boot. I uplugged by speakers (not a long term solution obviously) - nada, still no MC.

Finally, I discovered that I had a Logitech webcam/mic combo plugged into a USB hub that I had plugged into the computer. (I run Skype on the old system - no problem with anything.) BUT, here, unplugged the Logitech, and lo - MC boots! (With all the OTHER hardware back in the machine.)

So, because it works fine under the old OS with the older version of MC, I have to say this is a bug. If others can replicate this, I'd like to recommend its fixed in future releases. I sometimes use Skype to communicate with clients for the work I do at home - and I've always had MC up at the same time. I'd hate to have to kill that process.
