Yes, I do remember the positioning on screen of the characters having an effect. For me, I think I just abandoned that whole idea as soon as I found out that it could be off in any way. With the LTC/VITC, what I was referring to was that you can easily have a tape that is striped with LTC but the VITC doesn't match. Just wanted to make sure that that wasn't the case for your testing. It doesn't have anything to do with what the machine displays (readers), it has to do with how the tape was created, if/when any video inserts were ever done on it, etc.. By the way, not sure if this helps, but I did discover these symptoms while testing an SDI Mojo with a Pro Tools HD system. Same piece of hardware - might be related. I have multiple Nitris DX in house and haven't had any issues capturing or laying off. Good luck.

I haven't had a chance to get back on the SNDX to do a repetative accuracy test but every capture I did on that system was dead on. More will be revealed, I hope. I agree I would be better off with TC burnin on tape I rarely find I have access to a solid TC generator with burn in capability these days. Guess I could just output the Avid the time code window and use that in the future.
