[Avid-L2] MC 5 "._bin name" bins being created?

On Snow Leopard Mac Pro MC 5 Nitris DX:

It seems like I've seen this issue before but I can't remember the cause, wanted to see if anyone else is seeing this. When I open bins, MC is creating a ._bin name copy. The duplicate bins preceded by "._" cannot be opened and appear to be created the first time, the files are not showing up in finder.

Anyone else seeing this or have any idea what might be causing? Not sure if it will cause problems deleting the bins. Thanks.
