Re: [Avid-L2] Re: OT: How to nurture Flaky Creative Types

Or if you want to go commercial, create a "spec" spot for something
that will get your entire team excited: Maserati, Windsurfers, private
jets, cosmetics, beer.

Or try to create a viral video sensation. Maybe a commercial spoof.

Or, as my company did once, create a very cool short film. Ours was
kind of a "steampunk" version of our production team - a kind of
"Metropolis" "film-noir" feel, too. A 1940s-era hottie shows up at our
company and sadly, but hopefully presents us with a small box
containing "an idea" and then all this cool stuff happens and she is
finally, mysteriously handed a box, which she opens to reveal a
glowing, self-lit lightbulb, which she lovingly takes out of the box.
She shows the lightbulb to her clients who are old, gray and dour, but
the lightbulb fills them with happiness and turns into a Technicolor
dance routine. We used it as a demo reel for several years. It looked
great. There were never any of those questions we all have when
viewing demo reels, like "I wonder how much of this they actually
did." And it created a great camaraderie and team spirit in producing
it.
