around since Premier v1, Speed Razor, IMMix and Media 100 v1. so i
think it's about time that you can finally do it in MC/Symph. been
there in DS for a long time too.
Hey, I missed something. It involved the use of selection tool, but I've been able to drag and drop clips in the timeline for years, though I think when you're talking about doing that with one clip, that's a massively stupid way to edit. To each their own.
Have they recently gotten past the need for the selection tool?

i usually don't chime in on this list too much, there's a lot of smart
SOBs on here.. and some not so smart..;-)
i do have a issue with all the MC5 hub bub going on, and why does
everyone think it's so great? see below.

not sure where the improvements happened... Adding file I/O? is that
really an improvement or just keeping up with Sony and Pany? ama and
R3d are great. but don't you think it's about time? at this point,.
everybody can read an r3D file.
AMA was sorely needed, i agree, but that should be more of a "it's
about time" feel than groundbreaking type stuff. and you still can get
it out of MC to finish on anything other than Symph.
Drag and drop in your timeline? later..
And the first head to roll should be the SOB who used the name Nitris,
or even worse, DX, on MC and Symphony. As a long time user of DS,
Symphony and MC, i find it severely frustrating that repeat producers
call me up to book me, only to have me come in and find out the
facility rented them an MC Nitris DX to finish on... not very nice at
all, is it precious?

new customer revenue streams? itunes downloads? been there for a few
yrs. movies on itunes? is that really new or just an extension of
itunes already in place? I've been using itunes since it used to be
called SoundJam, and to this day, i haven't downloaded a movie or tv
show with it. maybe a lot of people do. i doubt it. i hear from more
people how they hate itunes and will never use it. So, what other
revenue streams are you talking about? iphone, ipod, MacPro, ibook,
MacBook. they've all been there. not new.

again, if its customer base is impressed because Avid added file I/O
to it's workflow, then some have really low expectations of what Avid
should be doing. dragging and dropping clips on the timeline has been
around since Premier v1, Speed Razor, IMMix and Media 100 v1. so i
think it's about time that you can finally do it in MC/Symph. been
there in DS for a long time too.
And again, sharpening it's tool set would mean that WE ALL know the
difference with what Avid's products do. i think from the naming
fiasco that occurred last year, it's never been, to use your
terminology, more of a Dull blade.

this i agree with you, they need to bolster marketing efforts 1000%
more than what they are doing now. and stick to what the products do
best. we don't need adds in magazine of some dude hanging out of a
helicopter with a Canon XL1 in his hand, and Avid's logo at the
bottom. who came up with this stuff ? or the multi-faceted Face? what
does that say about editing, finishing, coloring? confusion? more than
likely.
