Re: [Avid-L2] Avid Perpetual License Price Increase?

I personally don't hav a problem with the new pricing. Avid MC is the fundamental tool I use to make a living with. It's okay.

I am a little disgruntled over the 30 August deadline. It's so immediate that the $399/$499 price difference after 30 August feels a bit gun-to-the-head.

Not cool.

how do you figure the subscription is significantly cheaper?

From what I see, the subscription is $499/yr the same as the 8/30 perpetual renewal price

The long answer: depends.

If you already own the add-ons you need (Symphony / ScriptSync / PhraseFind), you would not need to get the MC Ultimate Subscription (499/yr) but could opt for the MC Standard Subscription (239/yr) — UNLESS you need shared projects/bins (MC Standard does not support project/bin sharing environments).

MC Ultimate has everthing, but: some of us already own some or all of the add-ons. And others might be better off purchasing the options outright (749? for SY, 599 for a SS/PF package), rather than paying for those every year. But there is the shared projects/bins thing…

I've tried to set up an Excel sheet that lists all the flavors and shows the operational cost over 6 years, but there are a few questions I need answered before I will share it, as I am not 100% sure yet everything in it is accurate.
