Re: [Avid-L2] Why 2018.12.1 and not 2019.1?

I was dealing with the multicam crash bug all month, so I was excited for the bug fix release this week. I've been committing multicams left and right.

Today I got a chance to test the commit multicam issue and with 2018.12 on macpro mid 2010 upgraded to 12 core 3.33GHz, 24 gig ram MacOS 10.12.6 it does in fact crash.  I guess I had done my multicam commitment when I was still on 2018.10.

Installing 2018.12.1 allowed me to commit multicam without a crash.

I've read of but not experienced an issue with committing multicam.  I'm on Mac so maybe that's why I haven't had the issue?  I'm pretty sure I've committed multicam on a few sequences without Avid crashing.

I saw on the read me Titler+ won't render in the background.  On 2018.12 I found I could not render pan and zoom stills in background as it generate black when a foreground render worked.  I wonder if this is related to the inability to render Titler+ in the background.

I've had a few hangs when I manually try to adjust tracking points.  It's happened about 4 times and sometimes it is repeatable on the same clip but I haven't surrounded it yet.

It's a bug fix release, not a point release. I think I read Lomicka saying on the facebook forum there was internal debate, and you can see how it turned out.

Still, it's confusing.

If you want to go down the rabbit hole, will folks with perpetual licenses, but who's support contracts ended December 31 be able to run the 18.12.1 release? I bet they can, but I'm just causing trouble by brining it up.

So far its been a great release - runs really well, even on my 'unqualified' cheesegraters.
