I recently bought a Garmin VIRB Ultra 30:
It meets my needs well but many of its features are aimed at a niche market (flying) so they may not do anything for you. Also, it's not cheap.
Why not buy a used mirrorless camera, like a Panasonic GH2? With a kit zoom, they are going for under $200 on eBay, and they're worlds better than any action camera. I still have a GH2 which I bought 6+ years ago, and I still use it occasionally as a B-camera with my newer Micro Four Thirds camera (with which it shares lenses). Great bang for the buck!
From time to time I film choral concerts for a local choir on a Sony A6300 as a main camera following the action, and a cheap action camera on a wide. To film and edit this I receive a very low fee, but that's ok because they're nice people.
However, my current action camera - an Activeon CX, could be better. So...I've tried a Crosstour CT9000 - TERRIBLE - I'm sending it backI've tried an Akasa EK7000 Plus - no better than the Activeon - I'm sending it backI'm aware that what these little cameras do is remarkable for the price but I want more!!Does anyone have any advice about a miracle little camera that has slipped through the net and is better than the rest - and please don't say GoPro 7 etc - that's more than the fee itself!Thanks & sorry for being a cheapskate.
