Well just like all the old versions of MC were pulled because of a Java licensing issue it seemed mighty convenient that those older versions were the ones that script sink was free in. Yes the dongle and license codes changed in some manner along the way. I believe if you really need older versions there was a way to get in touch with support and they could send you an update file. Perhaps that is no longer available.

Actually, I think it was due to a change to the functionality of the dongles. They went from a software version system to a purely date based system. The newer dongle system authenticates your software based on the date your support ends. That way any new versions that get released are authenticated automatically based on the end date of your service contract as recorded by the dongle. Clearly some "options" still authenticate via dongle, for example "Symphony Option".
