I took the plunge and went with Sierra and MC 8.7 on a 2011 Mac Pro and it has been good so far (about a week of medium duty editing). A few abnormalities (beach ball for no apparent reason when loading a new sequence-click on the finder and back to MC Zane you're good), but very stable to date.
