Yes but to see interlace artefacts you have to have motion between fields. True progressive sources have no motion within the frame so splitting into fields as PSF won't show interlace artefacts.
If the source is true progressive and the output has interlaced artefacts then MC would need to have created the additional motion within the frame.
As you can only see field 1 in the MC viewers a source flagged as P but with interlaced content would appear as P till exported.
