This statement is absolutely true.  However, in my original write-up, I indicated that in a worst case scenario this product only needs to last around 5-10 years, at which point there will likely be a new and viable storage replacement that does not have the cost or complexity of LTO (not that LTO is that complicated).   There is no way one can fully depend on dye-based optical media to last that long.
