Apple is NOT moving away from the MOV wrapper. That is fully supported in AVFoundation and all Core services,

You have probably gotten confused with the deprecation of QT - the system multimedia framework. That has been deprecated for 10 or 5 years depending on which version you're talking about.

It's got nothing to do with the MOV container though.

And on the PC only the Windows QT browser plug-in has a vulnerability. QT as used by apps, has no vulnerabilities.

With Apple moving away from QuickTime  (abandoned and vulnerable on the PC) its no time to be looking at QT as a wrapper and I'd also agree Prores isn't the ideal codec.
