My understanding, which is only based on issues I encountered with Drastic's MediaReactor plugin, is that Media Composer needs UHD and 4k media to be AMA-linked via the native QuickTime plugin, if the intention is to transcode it. Again, and very importantly, I am not aware if this limitation exists with other 3rd party manufacturer-authored plugins.

It would appear that Media Composer is correctly selecting the appropriate plugin for your media type. If you have already tried manually forcing the native QuickTime plugin, I would doubt that uninstalling the Panasonic plugin would solve the problem -- but I could be wrong. For the record, my workaround for this problem was to find the appropriate software to transcode my original camera files to a format that Media Composer's native QuickTime plugin would recognize. Then I was able to transcode those linked files to DNxHX.

Whether or not the UHD/4k transcoding limitation applies only to Drastic's MediaReactor -- or to other 3rd party plugins as well, Avid needs to address this issue. The ability to ingest UHD and 4k media is absolutely not a back-burner problem -- it is front-and-center.
