I noticed that the projects that were crashing were locked into a capture setting of J2K 29.97 p MXF, with no other options to pick from.
My AE and I went in and found that the CAPTURE TOOL itself was defaulting to FIREWIRE for VIDEO CAPTURE, which locked it into J2K.
We changed it to none, or HDSDI, and I got all my options back, set the MEDIA CREATION to CAPTURE DNxHD 145, or XDCAM 50mbits, and the ERROR went away.
I deal mostly with FILE BASED MEDIA, and haven't had to capture in quite some time, so I never bothered with it. Now, I guess I will check it more often.
