[Avid-L2] MC 7.0.4.3 available today

We are pleased to announce that the latest version of the 7.x/11.x code base - Media Composer 7.0.4.3 ( Mac and PC ), NewsCutter 11.0.4.3 (PC) will go live on the Download Center at 12:00 pm ET.

These maintenance releases are located on the Download Center (login and password required) and the full installers are located in the Media Composer | Software folder and the patch installer in the Avid Editor Patch Folder.

These latest update –  available today, March 16th, 2015 at 12:00 pm ET - are available at no charge for customers running Media Composer v7.0.x or NewsCutter v11.0.x, respectively.

OS Support:    This release now supports Mac OS v10.10.2

Whats included:  Included in these updates are a number of bug fixes, including:

  • In some instances, a LUT did not stay applied to multi-resolution clips.
  • Linking to a QuickTime 4.4.4.4 file created in Da Vinci resulted in an "AMA Plug-In Unable to Provide Sample" error.
  • With Matrox hardware attached, video playback was choppy.
  • Loading sequences with heavily nested rendered effects was extremely slow.
  • FilmScribe might have crashed when trying to preview a change list containing freeze frames and timewarps.
  • SubCap did not display certain international characters correctly.
  • Chinese characters appeared as question marks in a SubCap effect.
  • You might have received an assertion error when AMA linking to an XDCAM file greater than 2GB.
  • and more….

ReadMe:  The ReadMe for these releases is available for download on the Knowledge Base. Please make sure you encourage community members to read the ReadMe prior to downloading and installing  the software.

Important Notes:

1.  Windows users - To avoid "File Path too long" or a "File cannot be copied" warning while unzipping the downloaded installer, place the installer .zip file on the root level of your C:\ drive and unzip it from that location.

2.  Yosemite only - Customers with dual 6 core Mac Pro towers (Westmere) and the 2013 Mac Pro with a single 12 core CPU may experience performance issues with transcode, render, and playback.  These degradations are typically seen with higher resolution material.  The issue has been logged with Apple and we are awaiting an update.
