Re: [Avid-L2] Doesn't Avid Ver. 5.5.x install include QT DNX codecs?

Yes the AE system has Avid Ver. 6.5.x so the codecs would be current.  I've dealt with the fix to pre Ver. 4.0 systems to deal with the DNX compliant codec update.  That usually generates a half green screen.  From what I'm told these .movs wouldn't even play in QT and crash Avid when trying to import.  I just don't think it's possible to install Ver. 5.5.4 without it also installing the proper codec package.  Maybe someone didn't uninstall the previous Avid version but that's not how I've seen our engineering support work.

Is the codec package installed on the AE system current, or at least the same vintage as the avid systems?  Old codec packages (from around the time of MC v4 and earlier) may be problematic, as there was a change made to the DNXHD codec for SMPTE compliance.

Just a wild guess.

I've been rendering out AE graphics in DNX220 with straight key and I just found out that some of our edit stations don't seem to be able to play or ingest these graphics.  I went to our machine room Ver 5.5.4 mc station and it worked fine.  I don't understand how any mac Ver. 5.5.x Avid mc install wouldn't be able tor read an AE render to Avid DNX 220.  My experience is that the Avid install add the proper DNX codecs necessary for QT 7 and QT X to play dnx .movs.  Am I missing something obvious here?
