I have run into this too. I have a VERY large corporate client who is still using Windows Media 9. Their IT department will not let them update. We have to get special dispensation for them to get to our Vimeo and Youtube pages to look at proofs too. I got that through by starting to charge them a $45 delivery fee every time I had to spend an hour on the road delivering a DVD through security.

No suggestions that answer your question I'm afraid, but have you tried offering your clients MP4s? All of my clients are very happy to receive MP4s these days where they used to ask for WMVs in the past.
Good suggestion,Tone. FYI One of my clients, a very, very large corporation, is slow to update its Windows OS and WMP, and still can't stomach MP4s, which newer versions of WMP like just fine.
