Second this. My main edit workstation has MC 8. I have kept my laptop behind at 7.04 for the same reason - I do the scriptsyncing on it. Greg has shared storage, so it is probably a bit more elegant of a workaround.
We use that all the time: We have one bay stuck at 7.x specifically for
script-syncing documentary footage to transcripts.
You don't loose script-based editing- just the ability to sync using the
Nexedia phonetic recognition thingy. Not that hard to sync by hand, but
not as accurate or as quick!
I just let my 'phrase find' license die when I upgraded to 8.x. That's
been frustrating this week, as I have no transcripts, but mostly doesn't
bother me as much as I thought it would.
