Second this. My main edit workstation has MC 8. I have kept my laptop behind at 7.04 for the same reason - I do the scriptsyncing on it. Greg has shared storage, so it is probably a bit more elegant of a workaround.

I load the footage on the workstation and match it up with the transcript, then save project, quit MC, copy Avid project to Dropbox, switch drive's Thunderbolt cable to laptop, open MC on the laptop and do the syncing, then put everything back to edit on the workstation.

It is a pain, but workable. Best if you can prepare a bunch of transcripts at a time so that you only go through this drill once.

And of course it doesn't replace Phrasefind which is great when you have no transcripts…

You don't loose script-based editing- just the ability to sync using the
Nexedia phonetic recognition thingy. Not that hard to sync by hand, but
not as accurate or as quick!

I just let my 'phrase find' license die when I upgraded to 8.x. That's
been frustrating this week, as I have no transcripts, but mostly doesn't
bother me as much as I thought it would.
