Could happen. I just got off the phone with them and was told if the updater files fail to work with your release, phone in a case and they will generate you a custom updater to blast the dongle.
To continue my upgrade adventure, there are now 6 valid MC system ID's are all "on hold" and my current working MC6.0 dongle can't be validated at all cuz some clown in finland just used MY system ID to upgrade HIS system. Now I have to present documentation to Avid that the thing belongs to me- even though I have the only physical dongle, Avid sent it directly to me and it's been registered and running for the last 3 years..

Is that because the year of support we just bought needs to be validated by Avid?
