[Avid-L2] Re: Universal mastering field 2 program start, the latest QC BS

 

With SD Universal Mastering, you have to go in on an "A" frame and out on a "D" frame to maintain the proper cadence. If you select the wrong in and out frames, you get a warning message that Avid going to go to the nearest "A" and "D" frames for you. And it does. That doesn't happen in HD so you can have some very interesting results. It isn't accurate.


Second, if you look at the cadence indicator on the TC window above the record monitor, you will often see Avid has the wrong cadence. For example it will show the 1:00:00:00 as something other than an "A" frame. 

It's just sketchy at best. It does work if you are careful and double check. But it isn't bulletproof like the "SD" implementation.
