Here's what kills Avid...
When I try to explain AMA/Transcoding/Consilidating/etc. and what instances to to do what to get your footage ready to edit (and how long it takes), people's eyes glaze over and I can tell they are thinking "That can't really be true...this is 2014. I just want to start cutting"...and on FCPX or Premiere Pro, they can, for the most part. Of course getting a usable product output to file/tape can take awhile, but they can worry about that later...or pass it off to someone else to worry about.

I don't get why Apple is still bothering "competing" (haha) with Adobe for small potatoes, stupid, they should sell FCPx, and they should be buying a mobile carriers and production companies.owenOn Aug 18, 2014, at 6:59 AM, switthaus@mac.com [Avid-L2] <Avid-L2@yahoogroups.com> wrote:Is this fair?
Avid = BaseballAdobe = SoccerFCPX = LacrosseBaseball is old and slow, but still revered by purists and older fans. Baseball is having extreme problems finding younger fans (the average baseball fan in the US is over 50 years old). The new commissioner of the sport has a huge challenge in front of him to change the sport/experience to draw new, younger fans. It's not going anywhere soon as it's tradition and legend, but the sport has huge challenges.Soccer is the new sports darling especially after the world cup. Lot's of kids play it young (here) then move on to more traditional sports. Huge and growing following worldwide but can be deadly boring some of the time. How does soccer supplant baseball? How does soccer stay relevant after the World Cup in larger markets?Lacrosse is the hot new thing. Kids are now skipping soccer and baseball for lacrosse. Fast, exciting and not what their parents or even older siblings played. Mom and dad don't get the sport at all. Still under the radar, lacrosse has the chance to really break out, or it could just fade away. No real professional league...yet. But for some, it's the new cool sport.
